Jonathan has made an excellent point. Investing in quality content at a vast scale is like planting seeds in a goldmine. In time, it will gradually reap attention from the likes of Google, Yahoo and others. The problem with most individuals is the committment of spending hours everyday writing high quality articles. I think sometimes it's safe to outsource affordable, but good quality writers as well as writing your own articles. Definately speeds things up! WordStreme is a company I've hired in the past, and they've produced great unique articles for me.

Monika,

Thanks for your comments, that's the great thing about blogging I find that I always get comments on posts that I have written with additional ways to improve what I do and it's a great way to get a variety of ideas on a subject. As I said I like a good discussion and enjoyed reading your post, especially as quality content is critical. Thanks again

Some of us went into this niche with good motives, some with not such good motives.

However, everyone trying to make money online is doing it there own way. I could just as easily say that putting up junky sites with no content (BANS) is rubbish and just litters the internet with trash. I don't believe that, but I am sure some people do.

It's hard to judge people's motives without actually being that person. I only know my motives, both past and present for this blog. They have changed slightly over the years, but not too much.

@ Jonathan: You raised a great point here. Time is often a forgotten ingredient in the success equation. I think you hit the nail on the head with your regard to being patient too. Too many people seem to give up when their blogs or sites are just about to take off.

Thank you for adding to the discussion. It is often easy to forget certain things and by adding your points we get a much better overall picture.

Absolutely agreed, this MMO niche is driving me sick, as well as many webmasters with half-a-brain. It caters better for newbies and dummies who are awed by every bit of rubbish they read from those MMO blogs/sites. Little do they know, MMO authors make their piles of commissions from suchers that read and visit their sites in the first place! I cringe when I red MMO titles...sickening!

I very interesting post and it's good to get a discussion going. My opinion is that you need quality AND quantity. The issue hear is not about having one or the other the real issue is about TIME. It takes time to build a successful website or blog but we all want to find short cuts to speed the process up. Whilst this is possible if you spend lots of money to do it, the reality is that if you give your site 2 years it will naturally start to top the SERPS rankings if you have both quality content AND lots of it. I know plenty of sites that have 5 or 10 high quality articles that would beat other sites easily but thy make very little money. I also know lots of spam blogs that make a few hundred dollars quite quickly but then all their visitor traffic drops off because the content is awful.

So a god ranking, increased visitor traffic and a good site reputation will come naturally if you set clear goals, and generate 100 pages or so of high quality, original content, it's just all about being patient.

@ George: I guess we do. Like I said, I also don't really approve of the words and actions, but I do see why it is being done.

I certainly appreciate your opinion as we are all entitled to having one. It helps discussions and furthers thought on how we can improve overall. So thanks for the great pointers. :-)

In my opinion, it doesn't matter how much someone helps others, it is no excuse for being obnoxious and nasty. There are plenty of people out there who help people make money online without hurting other people in the process.

Personal attacks are completely unnecessary and useless. It's not quality. It is the exact opposite of quality. Clearly, we'll just have to agree to disagree in this area.

@ George: I understand why you wouldn't give away all the info you know away, since it did cost you time, money and effort to learn. I also understand when A-listers don't give away all their info, since they can make a good buck selling it. Either way, not many people will actually follow through with that either and that is why they can keep selling the same stuff.

Most of it is actually not very high value either, but this doesn't just concern A-listers, it also concerns Tom, Dick and Harry.

For me, far the best free info I have come across is from the three bloggers Trent mentioned and while I don't agree with the f-word and the b-word thrown in on a regular basis, I do see that this serves a purpose. It gets you noticed and people actually start to listen and act (while others turn away in disgust and call the name caller an idiot for doing so)

I'm not the person to judge whether this is right or wrong, but I have looked beyond that and seen tremendous value that helps people to make money for free.

It is also funny that people seem so adamant to call these bloggers idiots when the US marines and army does exactly the same thing in their training. I have seen documentaries about Iraq and how these kids got trained before sending them over there. There is no difference in the way they are sworn at in training, putting their hands up freely in droves than to what bloggers who do this do.

Another thing that was pointed out was the training of soccer athletes. They too go through mental abuse to make them stronger and more hardy to compete on a top level playing field.

So why is it that the MMO industry is so in uproar because a blogger came along who made us wake up to all the rubbish that is really happening online??? Is it perhaps because those who roar the loudest are the ones missing out the most by the info given out freely now????

Anyway, that is how I see this whole thing and like I said I'm not in favor of mental abuse, but sometimes I guess it is necessary to wake people up.

@ Brent: You are 100% correct. I dig these guys as they are the only ones I can honestly say helped me to make money besides my writing and give me renewed hope for my Internet marketing future.

I guess it depends on your definition of "quality". For me I don't consider anything delivered in a condescending, derogatory, attacking, flaming, hateful, manner to be "quality", no matter how good the information is.

Not that I am saying all of those bloggers do that, but there are definitely some bloggers who do and I can't in good conscious call that information "quality".

Monika,

I agree... less quantity, more quality!

I know you are a follower of Griz, Vic, and Court - and so am I. As far as I am concerned they are the standard for actually giving away useful money making information in their posts. They don't really post a lot but when they do it's always worth reading.

Monika,

Also many A-listers hold back on giving their best tips because:

A. People won't follow them.
B. Those tips get stolen and spread across the internet as someone else's great tips.

I hold back on giving out some information, because it's just too valuable to give away for free. Some tricks I know, I am not sure I would even give away if someone paid me.

Monika,

In your example, both blogger A and B are making mistakes.

I will use Maki of DoshDosh as an example. Maki does some of what blogger B does (writes great posts), but additionally he has done a ton of networking to build up his popularity. When he was first starting out he frequented this blog a lot and he also frequented other popular blogs in the industry. Eventually he made friends with many A-listers. He built up great relationships and wrote great stuff. That is how he succeeded.
