I Have Been Tagged - 5 Questions about the ONLINE YOU…

Trent Brownrigg tagged me with a new meme called:

“5 Questions about the ONLINE YOU…” (which seems to have originated at Home with Heather).

I usually participate in memes when asked, because I find them a fun diversion from the norm. Here is a description of the meme from Trent:

First, you answer 5 questions about the ONLINE version of YOU…

1. How long have you been blogging?
2. What inspired you to start a blog and who are your mentors?
3. Are you trying to make money online, or just doing it for fun?
4. Tell me 3 things you LOVE about being online.
5. Tell me 3 things you STRUGGLE with in the online world.

Then you “tag” several bloggers, including me, and ask that they join in and spread this meme on their own blogs. When finished you simply write a comment on this post with the link to your meme post so I can then read your responses to the questions.

Here are my answers:

1. How long have you been blogging?

I have been blogging since August 2004 (just over 3 years).

2. What inspired you to start a blog and who are your mentors?
I started writing on a blogspot blog that I made to see if I would enjoy blogging. I really enjoyed it, so I started other blogs for fun and profit. I should have concentrated on the fun and let the profit come, instead of focusing on the profit with some of them. I would call Darren Rowse, Yaro Starak, and Chris Garrett my primary blogging mentors. While I haven’t studied under them directly, I have learned a lot from their free information (especially Darren) over the years.

3. Are you trying to make money online, or just doing it for fun?
Both.

4. Tell me 3 things you LOVE about being online.
Just 3?

1. I love making new friends
2. I love learning new technologies
3. I love being able to hide behind a keyboard and express myself to a large audience without having to imagine people in their underwear

5. Tell me 3 things you STRUGGLE with in the online world.
1. Time – because I have a hard time dealing with all the information I like to read.
2. Focus – because I get easily distracted by a constant bombardment of information.
3. Being myself – because people aren’t exactly going to take someone from Atlantis seriously, are they?
