3 Popular Mistakes in Internet Marketing

As nobody is really perfect, even experienced Internet Marketers keep making mistakes. The industry is changing fast and it can be hard to follow the development sometimes. Your users’ habits may change from time to time and new techniques are being invented – and used – which are attracting more customers and may pull them away from your site.
Some mistakes can easily be avoided and therefore increase the success of your online business. An old rule of improvement is not to make the same mistake twice, so you can save time by learning from you own mistakes. Here are some very common mistakes, which I have made in the past.
Forgetting the users
I often see websites that are obviously built just for the purpose of ranking high on search engines. Nothing wrong with that. Good ranking can drive tons of targeted traffic to your site. But by taking a closer look, there is nothing a potential user would be interested in reading or seeing. Ask yourself if the content on your site actually is what your target audience wants. If they don´t want it, you won´t achieve any goal you might have set for your business. Your search engine ranking won´t make you a dime if you fail to meet your user´s needs.
Try to make your site fit the needs of the audience and make it fit search engines’ needs second.
Focus on SEO only
This is similar to the first advice. A highly optimized website might get you top positions on Google, Yahoo or whatever search engine you prefer, but will it attract users to stay on your site? Will they keep coming back to it time and time again or even subscribe to it or make a purchase on your site that will pay your bills?
Sure, most visitors – especially new visitors will probably find the way to your site via search engines. It is your task not to make their first visit their last visit. Make your content attractive enough to make them stay and come back again.
You´re on the winning row if you manage to make them recommend your site to others.
Not monitoring your niche
Things sometimes change overnight, making it important to stay on track of what´s happening in your niche. It is easy to monitor popular blogs and websites that cover the same niche as your site. Follow important developments in your market closely and take action to implement them in your business. Make this decision carefully, as you will be better off not following some developments. Evaluate the pros and cons of developments and check whether they fit your customers’ needs.
Become a winner and try to stay one step ahead of your competitors.
