Poll Results – What web 2.0 site has given you the most free traffic?

Written by George Manty  · September 19, 2007

Here are the results of my last poll:

What web 2.0 site has given you the most free traffic?

MySpace (35%)
Stumbleupon (35%)
Squidoo (10%)
other (10%)
Digg (5%)
Del.icio.us (5%)
Netscape (0%)

Total votes: 20

I was a little surprised by the results. I expected more votes for Netscape and less votes for MySpace. I am not surprised at all by Stumbelupon being one of the two top sites voted on. I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised, since one of my sites was getting really good traffic from MySpace before I ever signed up for a MySpace account.

Tomorrow I will have a new poll for you and I will be revealing a little bit about the offer someone made this past week to buy my blog. I will also share whether I took it or not…

I tried to market with MySpace. I do have to agree with these poll results. However, I did pull out of using MySpace for marketing for the fact that the spam was terrible! The worst.

I knew about SU for a long time, but never put forth much effort there until recently. And when I did… Wow, what a difference in traffic. If one was to put forth some time and energy into building good relationships in the SU network, the benefits of that can really pay off and pay quickly. I love SU and I am a huge fan!

For the bloggers who are new and or sand-boxed in most of the search engines, you have to find ways to go out and get traffic yourself. SU is one of those places that provide a huge traffic pay off if you are willing to put forth some good quality contributions within their network.

I take a lot of pride in my SU account. Each site I thumbs up, I also provide a brief but very good description of the page. Additionally, I syndicate my SU feed on my personal blog to help boost the traffic of the pages I stumble.

All in all, playing an active roll in SU can deliver you not really an instant BANG in traffic, but rather a nice warm constant flow…

    Best Regards,
    Garry Conn

As a result of this poll, I have been thinking about getting more active in the stumbleupon community. Currently, I just stumble things I like (sometimes my own stuff).

I’ve been using SU for quote some time now for my Internet Marketing Articles site. I didn’t realize it could be capable of such traffic! Thanks for the 411 on this. ūüôā
