Rich Schefren Has REALLY Ticked Me Off!
Written by George Manty · July 5, 2007
UGGHHH! Rich Schefren really ticked me off with his latest free ebook, “The Attention Age Doctrine”. Do you want to know why?
He is telling EVERYONE they should get into the SAME market that I want to go into with my new business idea! Uggh!
Sure, my new project is only targeted to address part of the problem Rich discusses in his new ebook, but I was brainstorming ways to solve some of the other problems, as well. I thought I’d have the corner on the market in this area, but now Rich is telling EVERYBODY that they should be providing solutions in this area because it’s going to be the next big thing…
UGGHH!
Did I say that loud enough for you to hear?
On a positive note, I guess if Rich says it is a good area to address, then that just serves as confirmation that it’s a good niche.
I have to reluctantly say you should go read his free ebook, because it is really EXCELLENT reading. I just wish he released next year, AFTER I had time to make a dent in the market.
Now, there were a few things about the book I didn’t like. For instance, Rich talks about ADD as if it were just a habit. It’s actually a physically verifiable condition. In fact, you can get a brain scan to diagnose it. However, although most professionals will agree that between 2-3% of children have Attention Deficit Disorder, as many as 6% of children are being treated for the condition. Why are so many people diagnosed with a medical condition that they don’t actually have? Many have developed habits that makes it look like they have ADD. Others may be exposed to environmental factors that affect their ability to focus.
I was also surprised the book didn’t talk about the role personality types play in a person’s level of attention. For instance, I have an INTP personality type (the same as Thomas Edison). This personality is much more easily distracted, whereas some personality types are much less easily distracted. I have been planning on talking about personality types for a while, but the blog traffic challenge and my stomper net trial membership distracted me from it
Despite what I found as deficiencies in Rich’s new FREE ebook “The Attention Age Doctrine”, it is quite possibly another business/life changing ebook for most of us. I recommend you read it from cover to cover and don’t let yourself get distracted. Just read it all the way through.

Wow! I too am an INTP, and it’s so cool to see others out there just like me. We do get distracted pretty easily though, I wish there was a remedy for that. I just got the report so I will be reading it shortly,thanks for the heads up!
Cool. I do still plan on writing more about personality types in the future.
Nice to know another INTP.
oh man I forgot what I am… this sounds familiar.. I am definitely not anything with an F in it :), but I want to clarify
I = introvert
N = intuitive
T = thinking
P = ?? – the other choice is J = judgmental..
maybe I am totally off here : )
What I really wanted to say George, is that NOW you got me curious about your new project.. hope it goes smoother than my new one is going..
oh and I got interrupted like 100 times reading his report :).

Andrea,
The P stands for “Perceiving”. I plan on writing more about all of this later.
