Hi George,

I found your site via dailyblogtips. good luck on increasing traffic. I haven't tried stumbleupon yet, but plan to head over there once I leave here. It'll be interesting to see what it does to my own traffic.

Also, on StumbleUpon - I set up my site on it last weekend and have found that in the following week, around a third of my total weekly traffic (admittedly we're not talking huge amounts at this stage) has come from there.

How long people actually stay or even if they bother reading any of the site is another matter! ;)

I'd agree with Paul, as a reader I'd rather know that there are less posts, but of higher quality than have to wade through lots of posts that have been made for the sake of posting.

Obviously, it also depends on the subject matter, if I'm really interested in it then I may want to learn as much as possible from as many posts as possible.

Depends on your point of view I guess.

Most of your list is good, but I have to point out something that is bugging me about it...

I see a contradiction between your #2 and #3. You state that you want to write at least 2 REALLY good posts every week, but you want to post 4-6 times a day.

This tells me that if I continue to read your site I'm going to have to wade through as many as 40 posts to read 2 that are worth it. This is a disturbing and growing trend I've noticed on sites.

Personally, I would much rather visit a site that is only updated once a week if that post is always good. Quality is ALWAYS better than quantity.

Just my .02

Maki,

I agree. I plan on spending even more time commenting on some of my favorite blogs and networking even more than I have been. Thanks for the input.

I think networking is by far one of the most important points if you want to get noticed. Writing a great post and having the right people link to it can bring you a lot of exposure and recognition.

Commenting often at as many blog as possible is the easiest and fastest way to network. Bloggers love getting comments so you'll also be making them really happy if you do that :)

Some good ideas, and I'll be looking to do the same. Stumbleupon sounds interesting - I'll have to have a look into it.

Thanks,

StumbleUpon is definitely worth your time. While Reddit or Digg can bring more traffic in a single day, SU will keep bringing you traffic for weeks. It is by far my biggest referrer.

Tar,

It looks like your site does the same thing. What are the advantages of using blogskinny over feedburner?

That is a good question. I have always just used bloglines, and My Yahoo to follow feeds myself. So I just figured other people did the same kind of thing.

However, I am going to look at setting up a feedburner account , because I think many people find it easier to subscribe for a feed with it.

Question for you: I see you have an RSS feed. Where do you register that feed to get more exposure? Or is this something that people just decide to subscribe to when they come to your site? This issue has been confusing me.
